Autism counseling

Counseling, support and resources for people on the autism spectrum and their families — so everyday life becomes easier and the quality of life improves for everyone involved.

Autism counseling is about your real, day-to-day life: understanding what your child needs, reading behavior as communication, and sorting out together which next steps make sense right now — at home, at daycare (Kita), or at school.

Many families come with very practical questions: How do we make mornings less stressful? How do we handle sensory overload? How do we manage the transition into daycare or school? This is exactly where we begin — realistically, at your pace, and close to what matters to you right now.

Have you only just received the diagnosis? On After the diagnosis you'll find first steps and a calm sense of orientation.

My role is to offer people on the autism spectrum and their families counseling, support and resources — so the challenges of everyday life become easier and the quality of life improves for everyone involved.

Parents and child in a calm counseling conversation

What my work includes

Parent and family counseling

By working closely with families of autistic people, I help parents better understand their children's specific needs and develop effective strategies for supporting them.

Coordination of regional services

Supporting parents in coordinating services and resources, including schools, therapists, physicians and community-based support.

Creating support plans

Developing individual support plans tailored to each person's needs. These plans can include suggestions for therapy and support, social inclusion and other interventions.

Awareness and education

I offer training and workshops for schools, communities and professionals, to build understanding of autism and share proven, respectful practices.

Who I work with

My support is aimed at three levels — depending on who is looking for help right now.

Families

Parents and relatives of children and adolescents on the autism spectrum — for orientation after the diagnosis, relief in everyday life, and workable strategies at home.

Daycares (Kita) & schools

Educational teams supporting a child on the spectrum — for case-by-case guidance, an understanding of sensory needs, and a good framework in everyday life.

Professionals & institutions

Professionals and institutions who want to deepen their knowledge — through awareness, professional exchange, and training and workshops.

Setting & how I work

Appointments take place by arrangement, in person or online. We work at your pace: I listen, sort out the next steps together with you, and develop strategies that fit your everyday life — realistic and close to what matters most to you and your child right now.

My approach is respectful, child-centered and neurodiversity-affirming: for me, autism is not a "disorder" to be fixed, but a different way of perceiving the world. It is not about changing a child to fit in, but about finding, together, a setting in which they can feel safe and thrive.

On the question of funding: in certain cases, support may be available through integration assistance (Eingliederungshilfe) under § 35a SGB VIII (integration assistance for children and adolescents under German social law) via the responsible Jugendamt (youth welfare office). Whether this applies to your situation is decided by the Jugendamt on a case-by-case basis. If you have questions about this, feel free to ask me — I'll be glad to pass on the information you need.

Who the counseling is right for — and who it may not be

Honestly: when this support is the right fit — and when a different path suits you better.

A good fit if …

  • you are supporting a child or adolescent on the autism spectrum (or there is a suspicion)
  • you are looking for orientation and a next step after the diagnosis
  • transitions are coming up — such as into daycare (Kita) or school
  • you want to ease everyday life and build workable structures and strategies
  • you are a daycare (Kita), school or institution seeking professional guidance

Probably not, if …

  • there is an acute crisis or emergency — in that case, medical or therapeutic help is the right path
  • you are expecting a medical diagnosis or a "cure" for autism
  • you are looking for ABA therapy — my approach is child-centered and neurodiversity-affirming
All conversations are confidential. Any exchange with a daycare (Kita) or school happens only with your consent.
Important: This counseling is not crisis or emergency support. In acute situations: emergency services 112 · on-call medical service 116 117 · Telefonseelsorge (24/7 emotional support helpline) 0800 111 0 111.

Frequently asked questions

Does my child already need a diagnosis?

No. You are welcome to reach out even if you only have a suspicion or open questions. I do not make diagnoses — together we look at what would help you and your child right now.

Does the counseling take place in person or online?

Both are possible. Appointments take place by arrangement, in person or online — whatever works best for you and your family.

Do you also work with daycares (Kita), schools and institutions?

Yes. Alongside family counseling, I support educational teams in individual cases and offer awareness sessions, professional exchange, as well as training and workshops.

Is there a way to have the costs covered?

In certain cases, support may be available through integration assistance (Eingliederungshilfe) under § 35a SGB VIII via the responsible Jugendamt (youth welfare office). Whether this applies to your situation is decided by the Jugendamt on a case-by-case basis. Feel free to ask me about it.
